SONGS FOE THE NURSERY. |
|||
To shoot through the skies, And dance in the bright Milky Way.
No, no, my dear nurse, I can not go to sleep ; Since you've put the thought into my head, Let us have with the stars One game at bopeep, Then good-night, and a kiss, and to bed. |
I must obey my dear Father above me, And do as I'm told.
Lady Moou, Lady Moon, where are you roving ?
Over the sea. Lady Moon, Lady Moou, whom are you loving ?
All that love me. |

LADY MOON.
Richard Monckton Milnes.
" I see the moon, and the moon sees me; God bless the moon, and God bless me."
Old Mt/me.
Lady Moon, Lady Moon, where are you roving ?
Over the sea. Lady Moon, Lady Moon, whom are you loving ?
All that love me.
Are you not tired with rolling, and never
Resting to sleep ? Why look so pale and so sad, as forever
Wishing to weep ?
Ask me not this, little child, if you love me: You are too bold: |
JACK AND GILL.
Jack and Gill
Went up the hill To fetch a pail of water,
Jack fell down
And broke his crown, And Gill came tumbling after.
Up Jack got,
And home did trot, As fast as he could caper;
Went to bed,
To mend his head With vinegar and brown paper.
Gill came in,
And she did grin To see his paper plaster;
Mother, vexed,
Did whip her next, For causing Jack's disaster. |
